Achievements & Recognitions

  • Through my current experience working at California Pizza Kitchen, it has taught me how to work with all kinds of people. Everyone has different needs and expectations, so this has helped me become extremely versatile and well-rounded. Not a lot of people can say that they have the patience and tenacity to work with different personalities, but I do.

Additionally, building relationships with regulars is something I love — it proves to me that this is so much more than a minimum wage job. Being connected with others is something I value immensely. I want to work in an environment where I have the opportunity to collaborate and communicate with others — to share ideas and gain alternate viewpoints.

  • At the moment, I am training under the California Dispute Resolution Programs Act (DRPA), so I can get my mediation certificate. I will officially receive my certificate once my 34 hours of training are finalized in May, meaning I will be a certificated mediator in the state of California.

This form of communication is an invaluable skill and one I cherish deeply. It has taught me to speak to others using specific, neutral language when confronting an issue; to look at people’s interests and not their positions, to negotiate solutions, etc.

  • I have the pleasure of being the Director of Fundraising and Events for the Student Communication Association club at CSULB. It has taught me what it means to be a leader, take charge, and turn my visions into reality.

I have hosted multiple fundraisers, from tabling on campus to hosting at restaurants near Long Beach campus (Canes, Cha for Tea, CPK, etc). Additionally, I have planned and executed different events including holiday-themed events in our typical meeting room (my absolute favorite), as well as athletic events utilizing the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. I have done pickleball and beach volleyball so far, which were both super fun!

This role has been fulfilling in so many ways and I am sad to see it come to an end in May.

  • In my Public Relations Case Study class, I looked at a case study involving domestic violence in Texas back in the early 2000s. I took it apart and dissected it — noting items such as the most significant facts, key issues, evaluate the course of action (message and communication), specify alternative courses of action, recommend the best course of action (explanations and justifications), while including theories, image repair strategies and crisis response strategies. I had to present my findings to the class. A copy of the powerpoint can be found here.
